"It is OK to be different and many many people are special in their own way. It is always ok if you do not look just like what you see on the cover of Vogue or Cat Fancy." -Chase's Mom
Her face may be hideous to some, but to her family and her human mom, she is the most beautiful thing in the world. This unlucky, yet very lucky cat was disfigured in a car accident at a young age and was rescued and adopted into a loving home. Her blog shows Chase leading a very normal cat life. She still grooms herself, chases bugs, and plays with her siblings. In fact, her mom says she can do everything a normal cat can do "except blink."
Chase’s story has warmed many hearts. She even has over 2000 fans on Facebook. But some people have other feelings about Chase’s situation. One anonymous poster voiced concern that it was wrong to keep a cat alive through medication. Chase’s owner states in her blog that the only medication Chase receives is to maintain her eye moisture since she has no eyelids. She's not in any pain. Her owner states "I don't think that is a good enough reason for me to put her down when not being able to blink is not a serious health issue. We try to find people to visit as a pet therapy animal to help them understand that just because Chase or other humans may have health disabilities or look different that they should not be judged harsher. It is OK to be different and many many people are special in their own way. It is always ok if you do not look just like what you see on the cover of Vogue or Cat Fancy."
Well said, Chase's mom. It's good to know that animals of all shapes, sizes, and forms can find such loving homes.
