Removing ticks is a pain no matter what kind they are, where they are stuck, or whom they are stuck on. Fortunately there is finally a product that safely and effectively removes 99.9% of all ticks. It is called the Tick Key and was created by an inventor in Connecticut.
Why is it so great?
The Tick Key has successfully removed thousands of tick from dogs, deer, and humans since its invention in 2003. Tick Key brand has worked hard on making the product the best tick remover on the planet. It is made out of anodized aluminum, not plastic, and has a special teardrop shaped hole for removing ticks of all shapes and sizes. Currently, there are 7 bright colors to choose from: green, blue, orange, purple, red, pewter, and black. It can be attached easily to a key chain or to your dog’s collar.
How does it work?
In order to use the Tick Key, follow three easy steps:
- Place the Tick Key over the tick so you can see it through the biggest part of the teardrop hole.
- Slide the Key towards you so the tick is forced into the smaller part of the hole.
- Pull the Key away from the skin towards you. The tick will be removed completely and easily.
* Disinfect the Tick Key after each use (with alcohol or other disinfectant).
* Remember, in order to test the tick for diseases, the doctor or vet has to have the tick to test, so put it in a plastic baggie until you can get to the office.

Why use Tick Key?
Removing ticks with any other method may not be safe. Using tweezers does not work because the head may be separated from the body and remain in the skin, which can lead to secondary infections. This is often the result when using a fork, knife, or other prying method.
Using chemicals such as nail polish remover, petroleum jelly, or repellants can cause damage to the skin and upset the tick, causing it to vomit the contents of its stomach back into the skin it is attached to.
Never under any circumstances try to remove a tick with your fingers or smoother it. This is another way of upsetting the tick causing it to vomit or expel its dangerous fluids. Also, if you try to remove the tick with a twisting or message method, it may come off the dog and find a new home on your hand.
Ticks are capable of living without air for long periods of time so attempting to smoother it will not work. The only way to ensure safe removal is with products such as the Tick Key.
Where can I get one?
The Tick Key can be purchased at many local hardware stores, pharmacies, pet shops, and vet’s offices. The Tick Key site has a “Where To Buy” page that you can type in a zip code to find local retailers.
