I do take care of my pets and treat them special, however, these pet grooming, surgery, and pampering sessions go well over the top of general good care! Check out what is going on in the world these days -- What do you think? Is this going to far, or are these treatments right up your alley?
Facial
For a special occasion, take your pooch to one of Kennelwood Pet Resorts’ six Missouri locations. A $5 Berry Face Scrub will clean his face and eyes, and leave his snout sparkling and berry-scented.
Hotel Suite
Doggy divas everywhere are sick of being boarded in kennels. Put your high-maintenance puppy up in style at the 5 Paws Hotel & Salon in Kissimmee, Florida, which offers color-coordinated, climate-controlled rooms for $35. Each private, cage-free suite has one-of-a-kind decorations and is fully furnished. Should your pooch need some playtime, she can mingle with other guests at the supervised playground.
Testicular Implants
Was getting neutered more traumatic for your dog than you expected? Make him feel like a manly mutt again with testicular implants, which mimic the size, shape and weight of the real thing. A pair will run you around $100—before the cost of surgery—and the price can soar to around $2,000 for bigger dogs, more life-like implants and custom sizing. Oh my, oh my, oh my!
Pedicure
Of course you can trim your dog’s nails at home, but why bother? Specialty pet salons like the Holiday Barn in Virginia will not only clip ($15) and buff them ($10), they’ll add a coat of pet-friendly polish for only $5. You’ll never know how cute your French poodle will look with hot pink paws until you try it! This is probably the most "normal" thing on the list -- lots of dogs have their nails clipped, painted, etc.
Telepathic Communicator
It would be swell if dogs could talk—but chatting with your pet via a communicator is the next best thing. Animal communicator Cindy Wenger can telepathically talk to your pet (she’s chatted up dogs, cats, cows, llamas, horses, turtles and more) without being in the same room as you or your animal. For $120 an hour, she’ll tell you whether your pooch likes his new food, your cat has a sore spot or even if your guinea pig likes to be picked up. Hmmm. . . . for $120 an hour, I think I feel some telepathic powers coming on!!
Cosmetic Surgery
Droopy ears are fine on a run-of-the-mill mutt, but if you’re raising a show dog and his ears begin to flop, he’ll likely get booted from competitions. The fix is the same one used for sagging human skin: injections of Restylane, a plumping gel made from hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in dogs (and humans!). Though not popular in the United States, the treatment is frequently administered by Dr. Edgard Brito of São Paolo, Brazil, for around $75.
